VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – It’s as sure a sign of winter as anything — winter tires will be capitol M “Mandatory” on some B.C. highways starting Monday.
Drive BC says it’s just for people driving on the Sea to Sky between Horseshoe Bay and Whistler and the interior, for instance.
⚠️ On Monday, October 1st, certain routes in the province will be designated as needing winter tires or chains. See the imagery below for the routes in your area. More info: https://t.co/xMa0Uzs8Bv #WinterIsComing #YVR #BCweather #ShiftIntoWinter ⚠️ pic.twitter.com/tuIytHpPFV

You could have to put up $109 if you’re on one of those highways, and your tires don’t have the little “M” or the “M+S.”
There’s a map of all the highway requirements on the Drive BC website.
