Vancouver police search for victims of man accused of exposing himself to teens

VANCOUVER – Vancouver Police are looking for victims of a man who they say exposed himself to nearly 60 people, including teenagers, and filmed it.

Police found some 30 video recordings of the man tricking young women and teen girls to look inside the cab of his truck where he was masturbating.

28-year-old Vancouver man Trevor John Kurjata was charged with five counts of committing an indecent act in a public place and one count of exposing genitals to a person under 16 years old. He’s been released from custody with conditions.

Police are asking women to come forward if they’ve been victimized in what they’re calling a ‘string of indecent acts.’

“Some of these women and young girls may have witnessed this person masturbating, saw these indecent acts, indeed, thought it was gross, thought it was inappropriate, but were unsure that it was necessary to call the police,” said Const. Jason Doucette. “We are asking these people to contact the Vancouver Police Department and make a report so we can piece together exactly what happened here.”

Police say they believe there are further victims because of the videos recovered from a cell phone.

They started getting reports in July of a man driving a pick-up truck approaching teen girls and young women as they were walking. He would start speaking to them from the truck, try to get them to look inside the cab of the vehicle where he was masturbating.

He’d then drive away after seeing their reaction. Police say they don’t think he tried to make any physical contact with the victims.

Police are asking anyone with information to call the VPD sex crimes investigators at 604-717-0604 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
