‘He was marked for murder’: IHIT identifies Chilliwack homicide victim

CHILLIWACK (NEWS 1130) – As investigators continue searching for the person responsible for a deadly shooting in Chilliwack on Thursday, we’ve now learned the victim’s identity.

“Twenty-seven-year-old Kyle Cromarty of Chilliwack was the victim,” said Cpl. Frank Jang with the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team.

He says this was a targeted shooting. “It’s pretty clear that somebody intended to kill Mr. Cromarty. He was marked for murder.”

Police were called to Yale Road just east of the downtown area Thursday afternoon.

“When officers arrived, they found a man with gunshot wounds who was taken to hospital. Despite the best efforts of medical staff, the victim died of his injuries,” said Jang.

No arrests have been made.

Kromarty was not previously known to police.

“We’re working hard to find who may have had the motive to murder him,” said Jang. “We need those who knew Cromarty the best — his friends and associates — to please come forward and help investigators develop a timeline and build a background of who Mr. Cromarty was.”
