VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – As FortisBC slowly gets affected industrial customers back online, natural gas is returning to some of the high-rise housing complexes that saw service cut.
People at Langara Gardens in Vancouver happily showered with warm water this morning.
They were mostly fresh-faced and happy after a lot of grumbling yesterday. The rental complex saw its natural-gas heat and hot water cut Wednesday night because of the pipeline problem up north.

One woman who lives in the complex admits it was a bit of a shock. “I didn’t realize that we weren’t go to have any hot water. When we woke up yesterday morning and found out it was just lukewarm.”
But given there was a water main break in the area a couple of weeks ago and there was no water at all for a period of time, she says yesterday wasn’t so bad.
Natural gas service was restored the complex about 5 p.m. Thursday. FortisBC hopes to keep restoring service to affected industrial customers in the coming days.
