Man who skinny-dipped in Toronto shark tank believed to be from B.C.

TORONTO (NEWS 1130) – A man who jumped naked into a shark tank at a Toronto aquarium Friday night is believed to be from Nelson, B.C.

Police say 37-year-old David Weaver is wanted in relation to the incident.

In a release police, the suspect was visiting Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada around 10:30 p.m. last Friday when he removed his clothes and jumped into the shark tank. The suspect spent several minutes swimming and diving into the tank before leaving.

“According to internal surveillance video, the individual in question entered Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada shortly after 10 p.m. After purchasing a ticket, he immediately disrobed and proceeded to climb over the security barrier into the exhibit,” Ripley’s said in an emailed statement.

Aquarium officials said police were called as staff tried to get the man to leave the tank.

Police believe the same suspect was involved in the attack of a 34-year-old man earlier that day outside of Medival Times. Officers say the man suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital earlier that night.

Police say Weaver is wanted for assault causing bodily harm and mischief interfere with property.
