VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Would you rather see trick-or-treaters out on a weekend?
An online petition has collected thousands of signatures from people who’d like to see Halloween always fall on the last Saturday of October rather than on the 31st.
Some say that if Halloween were to fall on a weekend, parents would be able to participate with the children and have more time to be out with them.

However, not everyone agrees that the date needs to be changed for the children.
Some say children will be asleep at a normal hour regardless of the day, whether it’s a school night or not, and believe the change would only benefit businesses and bars, as well as adults who want to celebrate.
The push to move the holiday is coming from the U.S.-based Halloween and Costume Association, which says it would be safer for kids and easier on parents.
