Parq Vancouver says it ‘stands against racism’ after Drake accuses them of ‘profiling’

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Parq Vancouver says it “stand against racism of any kind” and issued an apology after Drake accused the casino of “profiling” Friday night.

Drake criticized the casino in an Instagram post, saying it was the “worst run business I have ever witnessed…profiling me and not allowing me to gamble when I had everything they originally asked me for.”

Joe Brunini, president of Parq Vancouver, issued an apology on Saturday after the incident.

“On behalf of Parq Vancouver we would like to apologize for the experience our customer had. We are operating in one of the most complex, highly regulated industries and are always looking to better our communication and customer service,” he said in the statement.

He said they are working to help customers understand regulations, and denounced racism.

“We are constantly improving our communications process to ensure that these new regulations are better understood by all guests,” he writes. “We categorically stand against racism of any kind. We are committed to providing a safe, secure and enjoyable experience for all.”

Narinder Nagra, Parq’s spokesperson, said in a statement earlier Saturday, that the casino follows “strict” gaming regulations.

NEWS 1130 reached out to Drake and his management team, but did not hear back.

Last June, B.C. Attorney General David Eby released a report detailing how proceeds from drug related crimes are laundered through Metro Vancouver casinos.

Authored by former RCMP deputy commissioner Peter German, it estimates that some $100 million were laundered by the “Vancouver model,” which it says is linked to a Chinese crime organization.
