New Westminster police looking for donation theft suspect

NEWS WESTMINSTER (NEWS1130) — New Westminster police are looking for a man who they believe may have stolen a donation tin can for poppies at the Royal Canadian Legion on 6th Street on Nov. 8.

Police say the legion’s staff noticed the can was missing after the man paid for his food. Staff did find the tin can outside, but it was empty. A look at the surveillance video, according to police, shows the man concealing the tin while paying for the meal.

The man is described as a 50 to 60 year old white male, balding with grey hair and a grey beard, and wearing a two-tone sweat shirt.

This is one of three donation tin thefts that day.

Anyone with information of the poppy donation thefts is asked to call the New Westminster Police at 604-525-5411.
