Police make arrest in New Westminster poppy donation tin theft

NEW WESTMINSTER (NEWS 1130) — A 54-year-old man has been arrested in connection to the theft of a poppy donation tin in New Westminster on Nov. 8.

Earlier today in Vancouver, police arrested Dwayne Edward Zbucki, who New Westminster police allege walked into the Royal Canadian Legion on 6th Street and took the tin with him while paying for food. According to a press release, police say staff noticed the tin gone after he left the cash register.

Staff did find the tin later outside of the legion, but it was empty.

Zbucki has been charged with one count of theft under $5,000.
