Richmond officer out of hospital, recovering after being dragged by car

RICHMOND (NEWS 1130) — The Richmond police officer who was dragged by a car last weekend has been released from hospital.

Richmond RCMP say the Mountie is now at home, recovering with family.

“The support from around the globe has been touching and so comforting,” Cpl. Dennis Hwang writes in an email to NEWS 1130.

The officer had been hurt while doing a traffic stop last Sunday after approached a dark-coloured Mercedez Benz, when the driver sped off, dragging him.

Richmond RCMP say it is still trying to find the suspect or suspects, but is hoping an arrest is imminent.
