‘Ed the Sock’ brings War on Stupid tour to Vancouver

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) –  If you grew up in the ’90s watching MuchMusic, this character needs no introduction.

He’s back, and he’s madder than ever. ‘Ed the Sock’ is coming to town as part of his so-called War on Stupid, his first ever nation-wide tour.

“I miss the opportunity to get out there and interact with and hear from real Canadians. I want to get out there and press the flesh, but not in a Harvey Weinstein, #MeToo way: metaphorically,” he tells NEWS 1130. “It doesn’t matter if you’re on the right or you’re on the left, I’m going to spill your Kool-Aid.”

Thursday night he’s making a stop at Vancouver’s Biltmore Hotel. ‘Ed’ says he looks forward to mixing it up with the hipsters of East Van.

“There are going to a be a lot of ironic beards, and fake black trimmed glasses and man buns? Oh great. I’ll have no problem,” he says. “Talk about a target-rich environment.”

NEWS 1130 asked him about his best and worst celebrity interviews.

“Christina Aguilera a number of times. She was always great. Willy Nelson singing On the Road Again with him, Beyonce, they were all great,” he said. “People not so great? Vanilla Ice has to stand out as probably the biggest idiot I ever dealt with.”

‘Ed’ is appearing at the Knotty Burl in Squamish on Friday night.

Editor’s Note: Organizers say Ed the Sock’s Chilliwack performance has been cancelled. It has been removed from the article.
