METRO VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — If you have had problems finding out when your bus arrives or leaves, it’s because the system used to track all buses, is not working and TransLink doesn’t know why.

The system has been down for more than a week and a half, which means that TransLink’s app or even Google, can’t tell how long it will be until your bus gets there. Chris Bryan with TransLink says they still don’t know why the system is down.

“We’ve been working very hard on this so we had people working again all weekend, this past weekend, doing a number of things to just really get this activated again and so far nothing had worked,” he tells NEWS 1130.

“So what that means for customers is those third-party apps you use like Google transit, or transit app, or our SMS text next-bus service, things like that aren’t providing the kind of information you’re used to.”

Bryan says they have no timeframe when the system will be up and running again.

“Well, our hope is to have it up as soon as possible. We have a lot of people who depend upon this information everyday to just plan their schedule and plan their journeys and this is really important to us that we get it fixed,” he adds.

At peak time, TransLink tracks more than a thousand buses.
