B.C. NDP MP Fin Donnelly says he’s not seeking re-election in 2019

OTTAWA — New Democrat MP Fin Donnelly says he will not be seeking re-election in 2019.

Donnelly has represented the Port Moody—Coquitlam riding, previously called New Westminster—Coquitlam, since 2009.

Donnelly says in a statement that it’s time for him to step aside and spend some quality time with his family.

NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh thanked Donnelly on Twitter, saying he served the people of his riding with integrity and determination, particularly in protecting coastal communities.

Donnelly is the NDP critic for fisheries and oceans and the Canadian Coast Guard.

He says he will continue serving his B.C. riding until a new member of Parliament is chosen in the next election in 2019.
