One pedestrian dead, one in hospital, in two separate incidents across Lower Mainland

METRO VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – A woman is dead after a bus crash in Burnaby last night while another has a number of broken bones after a car hit her in Surrey.

One woman was struck by a bus crash in Burnaby at 6th Street and 16th Avenue Thursday night and did not survive. Emergency Health Services called Burnaby RCMP for help around 7 p.m.

Police say the woman appears to have been pinned by the bus.

Half an hour later another woman was hit by a car while crossing in Surrey. Police say the woman, in her 50s, was struck as she was crossing the street at 104th avenue at 156th street just before 7:30 p.m.

Officers say alcohol may have been a factor in the crash.

The woman suffered from broken arms, legs, and pelvis, police said.
