Another day, another weather warning: winds expected to pick up around Lower Mainland

LOWER MAINLAND (NEWS 1130) – Hold on to your hats — the winds are expected to pick up this Monday.

Environment Canada has issued wind warnings for parts of the Lower Mainland, including all of Metro Vancouver and Abbotsford.

Forecasters warn winds could pick up to speeds of near 70 kilometres an hour around Metro Vancouver, with gusts of 90 kilometres an hour forecast for Abbotsford.

The weather front is expected to hit the coast Monday afternoon, with winds picking up later in the day.

Winds will ease and shift to “gusty southerlies” as the front moves inland, forecasters say.

You’re being asked to secure any loose objects around your home, which may be tossed around by the wind and could cause damage or even injury.

You’re also reminded that tree branches could break due to the winds.
