Pedestrian hit in Delta in hospital with serious injuries

DELTA (NEWS 1130) – A woman in her 20s is in the hospital with life-threatening injuries after she was hit by a vehicle in rural Delta this morning.
She was crossing the street on Hornby Drive close to Ladner Trunk Road, and parallel to Highway 99, when she was struck. The victim was walking with another person east on Hornby and the two vehicles were going west. Delta Police say she was hit by a vehicle that was trying to go around another vehicle that was parking on the shoulder.
“The driver stayed on scene, and is cooperating fully with police,” Cris Leykauf, public affairs spokesperson for Delta Police said in a statement.
Police say the driver isn’t believed to have been speeding or impaired.
