TSAWWASSEN (NEWS 1130) — After nearly a full day of cancellations on major routes due to yesterday’s windstorm, the ferry routes are up and running, and they’re busy.
BC Ferries says the Tsawwassen to Swartz Bay route is back on schedule but some sailings have been sold out.
Spokesperson Deborah Marshall says things today has been smooth sailing.
“Everything is flowing smoothly today, unlike yesterday — we had 130 sailing cancellations on 14 different routes around the fleet,” she says. “We are seeing some increased traffic on the Tsawwassen – Swartz Bay run, but we do have four vessels in operation on that run to deal with the holiday traffic.”

She says the ships were already scheduled to be operating to handle the anticipated rush, and those boats are being well-utilized today.
