DELTA (NEWS 1130) – The lucky winner of Friday’s $39.5-million Lotto Max jackpot has yet to claim their price.
The B.C. Lottery Corp. says no one has come forward to collect their winnings.
“No one has come forward to collect that money,” says Evan Kelly with the BCLC.
The winning ticket, which was purchased in south Delta, was the only one to match all seven numbers from across Canada.
He says there is a two-day process to approve a win of that size but adds that once a winner comes forward, they will be organizing a celebration and invite everyone to meet the winner.
All lottery winners have 52 weeks from the draw date printed on their ticket to come forward to claim their prize. The odds of winning a Lotto Max jackpot or Maxmillion prize are one in 28,633,528 per play.
“Obviously hitting a jackpot is rare, you know there’ve been four or five jackpots here in B.C. in 2018,” adds Kelly.
He says even though some people think that the bigger the area, such as Toronto, the more winners you see, he says that’s not exactly true.
