VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — Using a name that wasn’t approved by the Real Estate Council of B.C. has been a costly mistake for one Vancouver-based agent.
Chen Yu, also known as Morning Yu, has been collectively fined $18,000 for professional misconduct. The penalties are linked to two transactions, including the sale of a home in Richmond belonging to Yu’s mother.

The decision says she committed professional misconduct by operating under the name ‘Team Morning Yu’ while working for Metro Edge Realty, but that name had not been approved.
She’s also been reprimanded for failing to properly document records and if she doesn’t comply with orders to undergo more training, her licences could be suspended.
As Ms. Yu has a personal real estate corporation, the licence of Morning Yu Personal Real Estate Corporation was also reprimanded, and is equally responsible for paying the fines.
