LANGLEY (NEWS 1130) – The Vancouver Canucks continue a homestand Sunday afternoon at Rogers Arena. While the 4 p.m. start time may be a bit unusual, it’s part of a larger party in Langley that day.
Rogers Hometown Hockey has been part of Sportsnet’s NHL coverage for nearly five full seasons on Sundays.

The Innes Corners Plaza in Langley is the latest stop for the weekend-long event, featuring Ron MacLean and co-host Tara Slone.
“It’s so rewarding,” Slone said. “I don’t think a moment goes by where Ron and I don’t get the sense that we’re seeing the country in such a privileged way. To be able to share this with the rest of the country is amazing.”
The weekly program celebrates the game at the younger levels with live music, family activities and even some autograph signings. The Canucks’ Bo Horvat is slated to appear on Saturday afternoon.
Slone is looking forward to telling some stories about the game as it pertains to Langley, and mentions it’s not a bad place to bring the kids.
“I have a nine-year-old daughter and I know how hard it is to find things that are free or even cost-efficient to do with my daughter. So, it’s a really nice way to spend a few hours, and it doesn’t cost a thing!”
She says she still enjoys unearthing the roots of the sport in each weekly stop around the country. “There’s such an incredible depth to the hockey history, to the way that communities really want to share their own stories. It’s feeling richer and richer, as time progresses.
