LIONS BAY (NEWS 1130) – A body has been recovered near Lions Bay, in the same area where a 59-year-old woman went missing on Sunday.
Lorraine Prebushewski was last seen leaving her home in Lions Bay on Sunday at noon.
Lions Bay Search and Rescue say the body will be identified once the family has been notified.
Squamish RCMP confirmed the body of a woman had been recovered off the shoreline of Kelvin Grove Beach Monday afternoon.
“All initial indicators point to the body belonging to Ms. Prebushewski but a final identification by the BC Coroner’s Service is pending,” read a statement from RCMP. “There does not appear to be anything suspicious at this stage but the Squamish RCMP will be assisting the Coroner’s Service over the next few days to determine any investigative avenues.”
Prebushewski had moved from Saskatchewan four months ago.
