14 students in stable condition following school bus crash

MISSION (NEWS 1130) – Multiple ambulances have been dispatched in Mission after a private school bus said to be carrying 14 students crashed Tuesday afternoon.

BC Emergency Health Services (BC EHS) says the incident took place just after 3:00 p.m. on a remote area along Stave Lake Road.

“It was reported that 14 students were aboard the bus, they were in stable condition,” says Shannon Miler with BC EHS. “One paramedic was on scene quickly and four more units are on route.”

She says a helicopter is also ready to go if it’s required.

“A private school bus went off the road into the ditch carrying approximately 14 students. Four of them suffered minor injuries and are being transported to hospital just as a precaution,” says Staff Sgt. Steve Crawford with Mission RCMP.

Crawford says RCMP are still on scene investigating.

The cause of the crash is yet to be determined but RCMP say no other vehicles were involved.

Staff from the Khalsa School in Mission have confirmed that the bus was transporting their students.

In 2017 a bus from the same school was involved in an incident where a seven-year-old was run over when he was getting dropped off at home. The driver was fired following the incident.
