VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — Fans of the Vancouver Giants hope the club’s Number 1 defenseman is going to make some noise tonight.

Bowen Byrum will be at the CHL Top Prospects game in Red Deer, Alberta, featuring the best of the best in Canadian junior hockey, and giving him a chance to shine on the national stage.

Chris Wahl from Sportsnet 650 says Byrum has all the tools.

“He’s a plus skater, he’s got great offensive instincts, he’s a point-a-game player, as a defenseman, as a 17-year-old in a Western hockey league, he makes things look so easy he’s been full-value for the Vancouver Giants,” he says.

You might even see a future Canuck on the ice.

“More and more of these young 18-, 19-year-old players are being able to come in and make an impact. Not saying that all of these guys tonight will immediately, but certainly it’s a salivating prospect for a group like Vancouver that could have a top-ten pick in this year’s draft in what is a very deep class,” Wahl says.
