Agents seize $10M worth of cocaine off Puerto Rico’s coast

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico — Federal authorities in Puerto Rico say they have seized $10 million worth of cocaine from an abandoned boat off the U.S. territory’s north coast.

The U.S. Customs and Border Protection said in a statement Tuesday that the 884 pounds (401 kilograms) of cocaine were found near the town of Loiza. Officials said the boat had arrived from an unidentified foreign country given the type of food products found inside it.

The drugs were found after officials said the U.S. Coast Guard spotted a suspected drug smuggling boat travelling south toward Puerto Rico.

The FBI is investigating the case. No one has been arrested.
