WHITE ROCK (NEWS 1130) – Should dogs be allowed on the White Rock promenade? Believe it or not, that question is generating a lot of discussion in the sleepy ocean-side community.
Mayor Darryl Walker says city staff are ready to hear what people have to say at a public meeting set for Jan. 30.
“People are passionate about this community, about walking on the beach and they’re passionate about their animals,” Walker says. “That’s probably a good thing. We just want to make sure that if we set it up that everybody feels safe and comfortable.”
Dogs are currently not allowed on the waterfront walkway, and a new pilot project proposes allowing dogs during the off-season, from September to April.
The meeting happens at 6 pm at the White Rock Community Centre on Jan. 30.
