Air quality statement for North Okanagan due to dust

VERNON – Environment Canada and the Interior Health Authority have issued a special air quality statement in the North Okanagan due to heavy dust.

The dust advisory was issued for Vernon on Tuesday and Environment Canada says high concentrations of coarse particulates are expected to remain until the weather shifts.

People with chronic underlying medical issues should avoid strenuous exercise and stay indoors and in air-conditioned spaces.

Environment Canada says infants, the elderly and those with diabetes, lung or heart disease are especially vulnerable.
