The world’s most iconic doll has been many things in her half-century of life. She’s certainly been quite a career woman — but she’s never really been a feminist icon. Will a long-awaited live-action movie change that? Should it even try to? Why has Barbie fascinated so many generations of girls? And why do we care so much what she becomes in the 21st century and beyond?
