B.C. woman who tortured, killed family pets sentenced for breaching release conditions

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – A woman who was convicted in 2013 for torturing and killing her family pets has been sentenced for breaching her release conditions.

Kayla Bourque’s sentence is four months in jail. However, with credit for time already served, the 29-year-old will only serve another 20 days behind bars.

When she is released, she will have to abide by 42 conditions.

Bourque, a former SFU student violated conditions of her release by accessing the Internet. She also told a New Westminster police officer that she talked about killing people while posing as a fictional character on a chat site.

She has lived in New Westminster and Surrey.

Bourque is considered a high-risk offender. After her arrest for the 2012 killing of a cat and dog, it’s believed she fantasized about killing homeless people.
