SQUAMISH (NEWS 1130) – Two hikers can thank Lions Bay Search and Rescue for getting them out of a sticky situation over the weekend.
They were stranded in steep, icy terrain in the Hat Mountain area overnight Saturday before they were rescued early Sunday morning.
Rescuers say the snow-covered paths became a concern and the pair became trapped between two steep gullies.
Lions Bay Search and Rescue was called in around 6 p.m. Volunteers found them and moved them to a safe area.
They waited until daylight before North Shore Rescue’s long line team could reach them. They were helicoptered out Sunday morning.
