Vancouver otters make the most of snow

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – It turns out students across the South Coast weren’t the only ones to get a snow day Tuesday due to the latest major storm.

The Vancouver Aquarium says its marine mammal trainers made the most of Tuesday morning’s fresh dusting by holding a snow enrichment session with six rescued sea otters.

The zoo has released what it describes as an ‘otter-ly adorable” video of Tanu, Katmai, Mak, Kunik, Rialto and Hardy in the snow.

It says the enrichment sessions are an important part of everyday care for marine mammals living at the aquarium, providing mental and physical stimulation for the animals and strengthening bonds with their trainers.
