Delta police are investigating after an off-duty police officer and a woman were stabbed outside a Catholic school

Two people have been sent to the hospital in critical condition

DELTA (NEWS 1130) — A police officer and a woman were stabbed at a Catholic school in Delta.

According to B.C. Emergency Health Services, two people were sent to the hospital in critical condition. Their condition has been upgraded from critical to serious.

Police say an off-duty officer intervened after seeing an altercation between a man and a woman in front of Immaculate Conception School around 3 p.m. No children are believed to have been harmed. 

Police are still investigating to find out exactly what happened.

“It occurred at approximately 3:05 p.m. An off-duty Delta Police officer was at the school and witnessed an assault occurring between a man and a woman in front of the school. The officer intervened and during the altercation, the woman and the officer were both stabbed,” Cris Leykauf with Delta Police says. “A suspect, fortunately, is in police custody, and no children are believed to have been involved in the incident.”

Police are asking parents who haven’t picked up their kids to pick them up at 88th and 120th at the Desi Junction parking lot.
