Markets Right Now: Stocks are opening higher on Wall Street

NEW YORK — The latest on developments in financial markets (all times local):

9:35 a.m.

Stocks are opening higher on Wall Street, led by gains in technology and health care companies.

Microsoft rose 1.2 per cent in the first few minutes of trading Friday, and Boston Scientific rose 1 per cent.

Kraft Heinz plunged 27 per cent after disclosing a federal investigation into the company’s procurement operations and slashing the value of its Oscar Mayer and Kraft brands.

The S&P 500 index rose 7 points, or 0.3 per cent, to 2,782.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 102 points, or 0.4 per cent, to 25,956. The Nasdaq added 24 points, or 0.3 per cent, to 7,485.

Bond prices rose. The yield on the 10-year Treasury note fell to 2.66 per cent.
