UPDATE: Pashminder Boparai has been arrested.
VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Charges have been laid against four people, in a sting aimed at fighting gang violence across the region.
Two are still at large.
Charges of conspiracy to commit murder have been laid against Moeen Khan, 22, of Surrey; Pashminder Boparai, 30, of Abbotsford; Mustapha Ali, 28, of Ottawa; and Nobin Malonga-Massamba, 23, of Ottawa.
Police say the believed target of the killing conspiracy was another gang member and that murder did not happen.
Ali and Malonga-Massamba also face weapons charges. They are in police custody, while Khan and Boparai are wanted on Canada-wide warrants.
If you have any information about where Khan or Boparai may be, you’re asked to call 9-1-1 right away. You can also stay anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-888-222-8477.
Police say Taskforce Tourniquet — a multi-agency crime investigation — has led to a total of 209 charges against 38 people.
The taskforce, which was formed in March 2017, has also seized a total of more than 170 weapons; over 10kg of fentanyl; 40kg of heroin, methamphentamine, and cocaine; and more than $2 million worth of cash, jewellery, and high-end vehicles.
