Another day of slushy, icy roads across the Lower Mainland

METRO VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Are you a fan of winter wonderlands or are you sick of the fresh snow that is once again covering parts of the Lower Mainland?

From bare but icy, to rain, to fat flakes on roads across the region, it’s hard to believe spring is only 12 days away.

Commuters in Langley and through parts of Surrey woke up to snow-covered roads and slippery conditions, while those travelling through Coquitlam into Burnaby and Vancouver were only dealing with wet conditions.

And while some don’t mind the slushy conditions: “I like the snow because it looks beautiful,” said one cab driver to NEWS 1130. Others can’t wait for the snow to go away…”I’m definitely getting tired of the snow by now,” said one commuter. “It definitely makes it a lot longer to get to work and to get home from work and it’s March!”

Snow also forced SFU to suspend classes Thursday morning due to driving conditions.

And even while some sunshine is expected later today and into the weekend, Meteorologist Michael Kuss says we’re not there quite yet.

“The band is from White Rock, up into Surrey and then stretching back into the Langley area,” Kuss adds. “Even some flurries up along Highway 1 stretching into PoCo and Coquitlam. And a few flurries into Eastern Richmond and up into New West. As we move from the morning and into the afternoon it will start to dry out when that wind finally drifts off to the East and that’s going to bring us some sunshine through the afternoon and more sunshine on the way into Saturday.”
