Human error thought to be cause of train derailment in southeast Calgary

CALGARY (660 NEWS) — The cause of a train derailment in southeast Calgary is believed to be human error.

According to a statement from Canadian Pacific, around 9:20 a.m. Saturday morning, one CP train made contact with another in the Alyth Yard, near 50th Ave. and Ogden Rd.

Preliminary reports from the TSB indicate that 10 to 12 cars went off the tracks.

There are no reports of injuries or dangerous goods being released.

Crews are continuing to investigate.
