ABBOTSFORD (NEWS 1130) – Several days after a deadly fire ripped through an apartment complex in Abbotsford, the fire department says a third of those who were displaced have found new places to rent.

Others are still getting help from the Red Cross and victims services.

Crews are trying to figure out the cause of the fire, which left a woman in her 60s dead.

The fire started late Wednesday night at the complex near Clearbrook and Peardonville Roads. Neighbours said some people were trapped on balconies, closing the door behind them to escape the flames.

The fire apparently broke out on the third floor of the buildings, and the flames quickly jumped to the roof and to other suites.
