BC Ferries looking for public input on new ferries

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – BC Ferries plans to build up to five new ferries by the mid-2020s, and they’re asking the public for input.

The new ferries will be quieter than the ships they’ll be replacing, and will have less environmental impact.

They will likely replace the Queen of New Westminster, the Queen of Alberni, the Queen of Coquitlam and the Queen of Cowichan that currently service the Metro Vancouver to Vancouver Island routes.

In conjunction with a feedback form online, BC Ferries outreach teams will also be on board major routes talking to passengers about what they would like to see on the new ferries.

They’re looking for input on a number of design elements, including those related to children’s play areas, accessibility, pet areas, technology on board, outdoor areas, and food and beverage options.
