DELTA (NEWS 1130) – A dangerous incident involving an intoxicated driver last night could have ended in a horrible crash, Delta Police say.

Cris Leykauf with Delta Police says they got the traffic call at around 11 p.m. on March 11, reporting a driver going northbound in the southbound lane of the Massey Tunnel.

“The driver then actually made a u-turn right there to go southbound on Highway 99,” she says. “Our officers caught up with the driver on Highway 17A.”

When police arrived on scene, they found the car pulled over by the side of the road on Highway 17A, lights on and engine running.

The driver then failed two sobriety test tests and had his car impounded.

He’s also been served a 90 day roadside prohibition.
