VPD still working to identify person who slid down the roof of a Vancouver highrise

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Vancouver Police still don’t know who dangerously slid down the slanted roof of a downtown highrise, a week after video of the stunt was posted online.

The VPD says officers have met with management for the building, which appears to be the Melville.

The video, which was posted to reddit last week, was apparently originally posted to Instagram. That account is set to private.

Police have called it “irresponsible and dangerous” behaviour.

“Not only are the offenders putting themselves at risk, they are also potentially putting the public and first responders in danger,” VPD Cst. Jason Doucette said.

Police say building management has installed additional CCTV cameras and taken steps to ensure no one gets up on the roof again to do that. It’s unclear exactly what has been done to prevent that from happening.

Investigators are renewing an appeal for those involved to come forward. If you have information, you’re asked to call the VPD.
