OTTAWA (NEWS 1130) – The prime minister’s inner circle will get another shake-up next week.

A senior government source has confirmed Justin Trudeau will be shuffling his cabinet. That is expected to happen on Monday.

This will be the third cabinet shuffle in three months for the prime minister, who is forced to make changes after Jane Philpott resigned during the fallout of the SNC-Lavalin controversy.

In her resignation, Philpott said she had lost confidence in the government’s handling of the SNC case. Since then, Public Works Minister Carla Qualtrough has been filling in as Treasury Board President.

It’s unclear if someone will be promoted or if there will be a new face added to the inner circle.

Trudeau had shuffled his team in January, moving Jody Wilson-Raybould out of the justice portfolio, a move that has been seen as the trigger for the SNC-Lavalin controversy. Trudeau then had to again make changes after Wilson-Raybould stepped down from the veterans affairs role.

The shuffle is expected to take place just a day before the government’s pre-election budget is released.
