Video shows dozens of migrants crossing into California

SAN DIEGO — A video shot at a section of U.S.-Mexico border wall dividing a beach shows dozens of migrants squeezing through a breach in a metal fence, and running north along the sand into California, some carrying children.

U.S. Border Patrol spokesman Theron Francisco said a group of about 60 migrants gathered on the Mexican side at about 4 p.m. Thursday in the beach neighbourhood of Playas de Tijuana and about half the group forced their way through the opening in the fence.

Theron says about 52 people were detained near Imperial Beach, a Pacific coast town south of San Diego.

Theron says those detained included 23 men, 12 women, and 17 minors, ranging in age from 14 to as young as 1 year old. Agents were still looking for others.
