VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – It’s still winter but you may see some people wearing shorts this week.
After a gorgeous Sunday around the South Coast, the nice weather is set to continue, at least for a couple of days. NEWS 1130 meteorologist Russ Lacate says temperatures are set to soar.
“We may end up smashing several record highs across southern B.C., as a mini-heatwave descends across the region to wrap up the winter season. Seaside temperatures will reach the mid-teens. But inland, they climb into the 20s for the next couple of afternoons.”
We typically see temperatures like that in mid to late June!
Russ notes we saw some record-breaking temperatures on Sunday.
Keeping in mind that yesterday wasn't even supposed to be a part of this late #winter #heatwave, check out this small sample of record highs set around southern BC Sunday afternoon. Temperatures today & Tuesday soar into the low 20's. @NEWS1130 @BT_Vancouver pic.twitter.com/djtekNaz2K

Russ notes the warm spell is almost province-wide. He says in the next couple of days, we could also see records fall in other parts of B.C. including the North Coast, Haida Gwaii, Central Interior, Cariboo, Sunshine Coast, Sea to Sky Country, and the Southern Interior.
Spring arrives on Wednesday.
