CP Rail train derails in PoCo, delays West Coast Express

PORT COQUITLAM (NEWS 1130) — A CP train has derailed in Port Coquitlam, causing delays for some Tri Cities transit passengers.

The CP Rail train derailed near the Port Coquitlam Station, and is causing problems for the West Coast Express. CP has confirmed a freight train derailed at 5 p.m., and says no one was injured and there are no public safety issues.

“CP regrets the inconvenience to commuters and motorists and is working diligently to minimize delays,” reads a statement from Salem Woodrow, media relations with CP Rail.

Until the derailment is fixed, trains will be stopping at the Coquitlam Central Station, go past POCO station and stop at Pitt Meadows station. There is a bus bridge to bring passengers from POCO station to Coquitlam Station.
