Jody Wilson-Raybould and Jane Philpott may remain in Liberal caucus

OTTAWA (NEWS 1130) – Prime Minister Justin Trudeau appears to be indicating Jody Wilson-Raybould and Jane Philpott will not be getting the boot from the Liberal caucus, despite the two resigning from cabinet over the SNC-Lavalin affair.

On his way into Wednesday’s morning’s caucus meeting, Trudeau was asked if he is comfortable keeping them on his team.

“They both indicated that they continue to believe in the Liberal party and want to stand for us in election in the fall and I’ll look forward to continuing to work together,” Trudeau told reporters.

Wilson-Raybould quit as veterans affairs minister over her allegations that the prime minister’s office pressured her over the SNC-Lavalin criminal case.

Not long after, Philpott resigned saying she had lost confidence in the way the government handled the SNC case.

The controversy has cost the Liberals at the polls with months to go before the fall election.
