Surrey RCMP are not aware of any motive, or whether those involve have gang connections

SURREY (NEWS 1130) – Police in Surrey now say a shooting and violent car crash that sent a vehicle into a home in Guildford Monday night were likely gang-related. Mounties also suggest the incidents were targeted.

The incident began around 9 p.m. when people in the area of 102-A Avenue near 152nd Street heard gunfire. It didn’t end until five people were arrested a few blocks away following a multi-vehicle collision.

One suspect was actually held down by witnesses until the RCMP arrived.

Two men are in the hospital with serious injuries.

Sgt. Kimberley Farlin with Surrey RCMP says they are in the early stages of piecing together how the incidents unfolded.

“We believe that those vehicles were probably involved in the first initial shots fired and it led to a motor vehicle accident a short distance away.”

The investigation is still in its early stages, but initial indications are that this is a targeted incident related to the ongoing gang conflict.
