White Rock driver hits 110 km an hour in school zone

WHITE ROCK (NEWS 1130) – RCMP in White Rock say a dangerous driver was hitting speeds of up to 110 km an hour on April 1, as it tore though a pair of school zones.

It happened just as kids were getting out of school and many were playing nearby.

Constable Chantal Sears says multiple officers tried to get the driver to stop, but he kept going.

“He had been observed at White Rock Elementary driving into oncoming traffic and passing vehicles.” She says the owner of the car has been cooperating with police, and Mounties have a good idea of who was behind the wheel.

Sears says they had extra officers working in school zones as part of a back to school safety blitz following Spring Break.
