Surrey high school teacher suspended for inappropriate comments

SURREY (NEWS 1130) – A Surrey high school teacher who had a couple of drinks before a casino-themed dry grad where he acted inappropriately has been disciplined by the Teacher Regulation Branch.

A teacher at Semiahmoo Secondary School made a series of inappropriate comments to one parent and several students. He appeared to have been drinking before the alcohol-free event.

Among those comments, he suggested one female student’s boyfriend was attractive, but she could “do better.”

He also repeatedly pulled back the sleeve of his shirt, asking students to look at his muscles.

He has been suspended for two days and has agreed to take a course on professional boundaries with the Justice Institute of British Columbia.
