WHITE ROCK (NEWS 1130) – For many people in White Rock, taking a walk along the pier was a daily ritual. It’s been closed off since December’s windstorm, but some good news from the city means they could be back in a matter of months.
On April 8 White Rock City Council awarded a $3 million contract to start interim repairs from the damage done in December’s windstorm to PPM Civil Constructors, a B.C. company. That work could begin as early as next week and finish in September.
Many locals say they’re excited to see work starting, but others say it’s already taken too long.
It’s been a tough go for many businesses along Marine Drive since the pier was damaged. Free parking was in place for two months to encourage visitors in the meantime, but that ended this month.
