RCMP looking for skier after teen seriously hurt on Grouse Mountain

NORTH VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Mounties in North Vancouver are looking for a skier who was involved in a run-in on Grouse Mountain that left a teenager with a serious head injury.

The teen’s head injury was initially thought to be minor, but it turned out to be serious enough to send them to the hospital.

“So we’re asking for any eyewitnesses who were skiing on March 30 between 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. on Grouse Mountain, particularly on The Cut, which is one of the runs, to contact us,” says Sgt. Peter DeVries.

The person who was hurt was wearing:

  • white Adidas brand hooded sweatshirt
  • dark blue toque
  • tan pants

“The youth was wearing white Adidas brand hood sweatshirt, a dark blue toque and tan coloured pants if that helps anyone remember,” adds DeVries.

He says the injured teen is now recovering at home, but he’s not releasing any more details that may identify them.

Police are asking for the second skier to come forward. Anyone with video footage is asked to give them a call.

If you have information, you’re asked to call Cst. Yushi Ebisawa at 604-969-7345.
