CHILLIWACK (NEWS 1130) – It’s tulip time! The opening weekend of the Chilliwack Tulip Festival is upon us, but this year, there’s a whole new floral dimension to it.
“We actually have way more than we anticipated,” founder Kate Onos-Gilbert says. “Our hyacinths are in full bloom, daffodils are probably close to 75 per cent full bloom, and tulips – our earliest and largest variety is in full bloom.”
In its 13th year, its not just about the tulips – this is the only weekend for hyacinths.
“That’s one thing,” Onos-Gilbert says. “If you want to smell two-and-a-half acres of hyacinths in bloom, this is the weekend to come see them.”
They’ll be done after that, but the festival runs until early May. You can get tickets at ChilliwackTulipFest.com.
